Sapphire Sustainable

Little by Little encapsulates our philosophy of taking meaningful actions that are impactful yet sustainable. It symbolizes Sapphire’s step in the right direction to becoming a more responsible and conscious brand. Little by little – Sapphire aims to move towards a greener future.

As a young fashion retail brand in Pakistan, Sapphire entered a new phase of its journey in 2018 by taking responsibility for our part as a manufacturer in the country’s environmental ecosystem.

2018

Seed-infused/embeded shopping bags made from 100% cotton waste

The first step of our sustainability journey began with Sapphire being the pioneering brand to introduce seed-infused shopping bags made from 100% cotton waste to Pakistan. These shopping bags were given on every purchase made on Independence Day, and could be ripped apart and planted as a normal tree.

2018

Tree Plantation Drive at Akhuwwat Foundation from proceeds of Independence Day Collection

With each Kurta purchased from Sapphire’s Independence Day ‘Homage’ collection - featuring five diverse designs that represented elements of Pakistan’s culture - Sapphire planted a tree in the name of the customer at Akhuwwat Foundation.

2019

Reusable Canvas Bags made from Repurposed Fashion Waste

Our very first step into sustainable fashion began with introducing reusable canvas bags that were made from repurposed fashion waste. Sapphire replaced all the shopping bags at their stores with these eco-friendly and versatile canvas bags, while also encouraging customers to use them for more than just shopping purposes, such as day-to-day activities like grocery runs, gym, travel, etc. Our aim here was to discourage the use of single-use plastic and reduce plastic pollution.

2019

Seeds Distribution to Customers to encourage Tree Plantation

Our purpose with the Little by Little campaign was not just to take responsible actions, but also to involve our customers wherever and whenever we can. Our canvas bags came with a seed pouch that contained seeds of various plants in an attempt to encourage plantation around Pakistan.

2019

Donated eco-friendly canvas bags to International Union for Conservation of Nature

As an extension of our sustainable efforts, Sapphire donated its eco-friendly and reusable canvas bags to International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), a global body that unites the world’s most influential organizations to make an effort towards conserving nature and encouraging the transition to sustainable development.

2019

Distributed Canvas Bags at 5 Ramzan Bazaars

In continuation of our efforts to discourage plastic consumption, Sapphire distributed 10,000 canvas bags at five Ramzan Bazaars around Lahore.

2019

Cloth Bags for Unstitched

To move towards a plastic-free lifestyle, Sapphire began packing their unstitched articles in fabric bags made from repurposed fashion waste. Initially packed inside a zip-lock poly bag, our cloth bags have now become a mainstay in Sapphire’s packaging. As we move towards increasing our sustainable footprint with each passing year, this switch to fabric bags has proven to be one of the most rewarding steps in our journey.

2020

Promoted 5 Local Artists on our reusable canvas bags

For Independence Day, Sapphire took the initiative to promote local artists by having them design 5 variants for our eco-friendly canvas bags that were then distributed at every purchase on Independence Day across all Sapphire stores, nationwide. This initiative allowed their artistic skills to shine through our canvas bags, allowing each of them to tell their own story on a sustainable medium.

2021

Revive the Thread

With the start of a new decade, Sapphire took another step forward for its sustainability initiative by introducing a new campaign under the umbrella of Little by Little. This time, the aim was to involve the entire nation to partner with us in our efforts for a greener future. We placed garment collectors at all our stores across Pakistan and have been encouraging people to donate unwanted, old, unusable, discarded fabric to give it a new life, a new meaning, a new purpose in the shape of a canvas bag or more recycled items in the future.

2021

Sustainable Fashion

To signify our move towards setting realistic goals for our sustainable initiative, Sapphire has launched its Sustainable Fashion line coinciding with Independence Day – a collection of 6 Ready to Wear Kurtas that are made while keeping ethical processing at the forefront by recycling fashion waste and reduced water consumption. This dynamic collection is a starting step towards achieving the sustainability goals we are setting for ourselves by the year 2025, in which we aim to recycle at least 40% of our fashion waste.
